Day 1

Hà Giang City → Quản Bạ Heaven's Gate → Thẩm Mã Pass → Đồng Văn (145 km)

Depart Hà Giang city and climb Bắc Sum Pass to Quản Bạ Heaven's Gate. Visit Lùng Tám linen weaving village, conquer the switchbacks of Thẩm Mã Pass, and visit the historic H'Mong King's Palace before checking into your hotel in Đồng Văn Old Quarter.

Day 2

Đồng Văn → Mã Pí Lèng Pass → Nho Quế River → Mậu Duệ → Du Già Waterfall (85 km)

Conquer the legendary Mã Pí Lèng Pass overlooking Tu Sản Canyon and the turquoise Nho Quế River. Ride through the scenic gorges of Sa Lý and Mậu Duệ, arriving in the idyllic valley of Du Già. Plunge into the freshwater pools beneath Du Già Waterfall and stay in an authentic Tay wooden stilt homestay.

Day 3

Du Già Valley → Bảo Lạc → Ba Bể National Park & Lake (140 km)

Ride through remote mountain backroads past terraced fields and ethnic minority hamlets into Bắc Kạn province. Arrive at Ba Bể Lake — a tranquil freshwater lake surrounded by primary rainforest and towering karst peaks. Settle into a Tay village homestay right on the water's edge.

Day 4

Ba Bể Lake Boat Cruise → Mẻ Pia 14-Tier Pass → Pác Bó Cave (160 km)

Board a traditional wooden longboat for a sunrise cruise across the serene waters of Ba Bể Lake. Hop back on the motorcycles and ride through the rugged mountains of Cao Bằng, conquering the famous 14 hairpin switchbacks of Mẻ Pia Pass. Arrive in Pác Bó to sleep beside a tranquil mountain stream.

Day 5

Ride along the scenic Vietnam-China border road through karst valleys to Bản Giốc Waterfall — the 4th largest border waterfall in the world. Explore the colossal stalactites of Ngườm Ngao Cave and relax beside the river.

Day 6

Bản Giốc → Núi Mắt Thần (Angel Eye Mountain) → Phia Thắp Incense Village → Cao Bằng (120 km)

Ride through the surreal karst landscape of Núi Mắt Thần (Angel Eye Mountain / Mountain with a Hole). Visit the traditional blacksmith and incense-making villages of the Nùng people in Phia Thắp. Complete your epic expedition in Cao Bằng city with convenient transfer options back to Hanoi.
